Davidson
Davidson, NC owes its existence to Davidson College, which was founded in 1837. At first, the college served as the town’s government until the town incorporated as Davidson College in 1879. Subsequently, in 1891, the town’s name was changed to Davidson. Despite the rapid growth of many other towns in the Lake Norman area, Davidson has managed to retain its small-town atmosphere and has remained relatively small. Although there have been many new additions to the town, Main Street still looks much as it did 50 years ago.
Davidson is a walking and biking-friendly community with many neighborhoods that are within walking distance to town. In addition to the college, Davidson offers a public library, public parks, greenways, and a premier private golf course community at River Run Country Club. The town is only minutes away from Lake Norman and area shopping and dining, including popular Birkdale Village. Davidson is an excellent choice for those seeking to reside in a small town that offers various nearby amenities. Whether you’re looking for a historic in-town home, a home in a quiet area on a large lot, a home in a golf course community, or a modern condo or townhome, Davidson offers something for most everyone.
In summary, Davidson, NC, with its small town charm, is a town that offers a unique blend of historic architecture, natural beauty, and a vibrant community.
